Examination in Applied Criminology and Management (Prison Studies) for the M.St. Degree: Notice

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board of Law and with the concurrence of the Board of Graduate Studies and the Board of Continuing Education, they have approved Applied Criminology and Management (Prison Studies), with effect from 1 January 1998, as a subject for postgraduate study for the M.St. Degree. Special regulations for the examination in that subject for the degree have been approved as follows: APPLIED CRIMINOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (PRISON STUDIES)
The scheme of examination for the course of study in Applied Criminology and Management (Prison Studies) for the degree of Master of Studies shall consist of:

(a)	four essays, each of not more than 3,000 words in length and each on a topic approved by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Law;
(b)	course-work in research methods, as proposed by the Degree Committee;
(c)	a thesis, of not more than 18,000 words in length, including footnotes and appendices but excluding bibliography, on a subject approved by the Degree Committee.

The examination shall include an oral examination on the thesis and on the general field of knowledge within which it falls.
