Graces

Graces submitted to the Regent House on 22 October 2025

The Council submits the following Graces to the Regent House. These Graces, unless they are withdrawn or a ballot is requested in accordance with the regulations for Graces of the Regent House (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 111), will be deemed to have been approved at 4 p.m. on Friday, 31 October 2025. Further information on requests for a ballot or the amendment of Graces is available to members of the Regent House on the Regent House Petitions site.§

1. That on the nomination of the Council, Professor Maria Agneta Abreu, PEM, be reappointed Deputy University Advocate for two years from 1 October 2025.

2. That the rules for the Cambridge University Assistants’ Contributory Pension Scheme be amended as set out in the Council’s Notice dated 16 October 2025 (p. 54).

3. That with effect from 2 December 2025 or such later date agreed by the Council, in Regulation 1(b)(ii) of the Ordinance for the University and Staff Joint Board (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 127) the reference to the Director of the Finance Division be replaced with a reference to the Chief Financial Officer.1

Graces to be submitted to the Regent House at a Congregation on 24 October 2025

The Council has sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on Friday, 24 October 2025.

1. That the title of the degree of Master of Arts honoris causa be conferred under Statute A II 14 upon Christopher John Evans, FSA, FBA, MCIfA, Senior Research Fellow, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, formerly Director of the Cambridge Archaeological Unit.1

That the following person be admitted to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by incorporation:

2. Rosalind Polly Blakesley, Master and Fellow of Pembroke College, Professor of Russian and European Art in the Department of History of Art, Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Oxford (1997).

That the following persons be admitted to the degree of Master of Arts under the provisions of Statute B II 2:

3. Anna Marie Baskerville, Fellow of Sidney Sussex College.

4. Francesco Bianchini, Fellow of King’s College.

5. Hrvoje Jasak, Fellow of Christ’s College, Professor of Continuum Physics (Grade 11) in the Department of Physics.

6. Timothy Martin Jones, Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Professor of Computer Architecture and Compilation in the Department of Computer Science and Technology.

7. Ewa Kamila Paluch, Fellow of Trinity College, Professor of Anatomy (1707) in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.

The Council has sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on Saturday, 25 October 2025.
