Regulations for examinations

Bioscience Enterprise for the M.Phil. Degree

With effect from 1 October 2027

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, has approved Bioscience Enterprise as a course of study for the degree of Master of Philosophy by advanced study with effect from 1 October 2027. Special regulations for the examination have been approved as follows:

Bioscience Enterprise

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Bioscience Enterprise for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:

(a)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance for Assessment Formats as prescribed by the Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine;

(b)a dissertation, of no more than 10,000 words in length (excluding tables, footnotes, appendices and bibliography), on an individual research project on a topic proposed by the candidate and subject to the approval of the Degree Committee.

2. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the work submitted by the candidate under Regulation 1(b) and on the general field of knowledge within which such work falls.

Cancer Biology and Medicine for the M.Phil. Degree

With effect from 1 October 2027

The General Board, on the recommendation of the Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, has approved Cancer Biology and Medicine as a course of study for the degree of Master of Philosophy by advanced study with effect from 1 October 2027. Special regulations for the examination have been approved as follows:

Cancer Biology and Medicine

1. The scheme of examination for the one-year course of study in Cancer Biology and Medicine for the degree of Master of Philosophy shall consist of:

(a)assessments offered in a format permitted under the Ordinance for Assessment Formats as prescribed by the Degree Committee for the Faculties of Clinical Medicine and Veterinary Medicine;

(b)a dissertation, of no more than 10,000 words in length (excluding tables, footnotes, appendices and bibliography), on an individual research project on a topic proposed by the candidate and subject to the approval of the Degree Committee. The dissertation shall comprise a literature review providing background to the project, an account of the methods used, and the outcome of the research project.

2. The examination may include, at the discretion of the Examiners, an oral examination on the work submitted by the candidate under Regulation 1 and on the general field of knowledge within which such work falls.
