Elections, appointments and grants of title

The following elections, appointments and grants of title have been made:

Elections

Dr Gloria Daisy Wekker, M.A., University of Amsterdam, Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles, elected Diane Middlebrook and Carl Djerassi Visiting Professor of Gender Studies from 11 March 2026 until 5 April 2026, assigned to the Department of Politics and International Studies.

Professor Stephanie Wynne-Jones, B.A., University of Bristol, M.Phil., Ph.D., CHU, Professor of African Archaeology, University of York, elected Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer Professor of the Deep History and Archaeology of Africa with effect from a date to be determined.

Divinity. Dr Christopher Victor Jones, M.A., CC, M.Phil., Ph.D., Oxford, appointed from 1 September 2026 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Engineering. Dr Jake Charles Snell, B.Sc., Yale, M.Sc., Ph.D., Toronto, appointed from 1 January 2027 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

English. Dr David Isaacs, B.A., PET, M.A., Ph.D., UCL, appointed from 1 September 2026 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

History and Philosophy of Science. Dr Beatrice Bottomley, B.A., SOAS, University of London, M.Res., Aix-Marseilles, Ph.D., Warburg Institute, University of London, appointed from 1 September 2026 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Philosophy. Dr Thomas James Bernard Byrne, B.A., M.Phil., KCL, Ph.D., MIT, appointed from 1 August 2026 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of three years.

Sociology. Dr Alexandre Ilani Rein White, B.A., Amherst College, M.A., LSE, Ph.D., Boston, appointed from 1 September 2026 until the retiring age and subject to a probationary period of five years.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Associate Professors

Zoology. Dr Javier Luque has been granted the title of Affiliated Associate Professor from 1 January 2026 for five years. Dr Joana Meier has been granted the title of Affiliated Associate Professor from 1 April 2026 for five years.

Affiliated Lecturers

Archaeology. Ms Natasha Rai and Dr Federico Zangani, HO, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for one year. Dr David Friesem, Dr Sam Lucy, N, and Dr Philip Stastney have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for a further one year.

Divinity. Dr Jacob Deans has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for two years.

Education. Dr Jonathan Padley, JN, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for a further one year. Dr Wai Yi Feng, CLH, and Dr Elsa Lee, HO, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 8 October 2025 for a further one year.

Engineering. Dr Marcus Tomalin, TH, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for one year.

Geography. Dr Howard Nelson, LC, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for a further two years.

Materials Science and Metallurgy. Dr James Dolan, K, and Dr Noel Rutter, W, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 17 October 2025 for two years.

Pathology. Dr James Edgar has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 March 2026 for two years. Dr Nicholas Brown and Dr Vito Mennella have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for a further two years.

Pharmacology. Dr Hywel Llewelyn Roderick has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 March 2026 for a further two years.

Politics and International Studies. Dr Grace Livingstone, Dr Tobias Mueller, Q, and Dr Farhana Afrin Rahman, W, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2025 for two years. Dr Summer Qassim, CLH, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 24 February 2026 for two years.

Psychology. Dr Chloe Austerberry, CLH, Dr Kamila Jozwik and Dr David Young have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 January 2026 for two years.

Public Health and Primary Care. Professor Hilary Thomas has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 7 January 2026 for a further two years.

Sociology. Dr Simina Dragos, Q, has been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 February 2026 for a further one year.
